After a night with local Labour friends, we woke up to the last day of the Young Labour Clarion Tour. The sun was out again as we headed from a quick breakfast to the Riccartion Community Trust.

We had been asked to help prep the worn building for some painting, so without any delay we got straight into it. We had a number of local Christchurch Young Labour members helping us and so we made quick work of the many window stills and doors that need scrapping and sanding. The Trust put on a nice morning tea of coffee, tea, juice and some fresh fruit. We also, after failing to get the water blaster working, went around the walls of the building. The walls had collected much grime so with a broom, hose, and a broom-hose we managed to turn most of the walls from beige into a light cream colour.

After getting a few group photos we grabbed some fish and chips and ate them at a nearby park, followed by delicious cupcakes prepared at 2am the night before by a local Young Labour activist (true dedication!). After a good feed and chat it was time to find a local café to type up our final blog post, final press release, and to officially close the tour.

We would like to thank all the MPs and local Labour members who helped us find beds, dinner, and the local organisations to help support. We would like to thank the local organisations themselves with whom we enjoyed working with, who provided food and drink, and who gave us and important insight into the work they do. We would also like to give a special shout out to our driver Eric who drove over 3000km to get us around New Zealand to do our work. Lastly we would like to thank all the Young Labour members who joined us along the way.
